USCF Event

This is a USCF (United States Chess Federation) event, which means it is “rated” and the player needs to be a current USCF member, or can join now (if you have never ever been a member) by paying $13 (the economy membership) and we will wave the $8 entry fee for this tournament. This special offer only applies to new scholastic members, and is the “economy” membership which does not include an USCF publications. You may also register on the USCF site for other types of memberships, which are $17 and up for students. If you register on the USCF site, please attach a copy of your membership receipt to the tournament registration and we will still wave the $8 early registration fee if this is a new membership, and if you register after Oct 22nd the fee for new members will be $4 plus the membership fee (total $17).

Students in K-3 may play without an USCF membership if this is their first tournament (as as special introduction to tournaments; this is the Junior Tournament Player or “JTP”). These players must join the Primary or Midget category to qualify as a “JTP”. We encourage players to join the USCF if they are possibly going to play in more individual tournaments this year.

If you have been a USCF member, and your membership has expired, you may go to the USCF site and renew, or send the appropriate fees with your tournament application. Please attach a copy of your renewal receipt to the tournament application.

USCF ID and Rating

The tournament registration form requires you to enter your USCF ID and rating. If you do not know what this is (and you are a USCF member) you can find out from the USCF site Members Service Area.

Note: If the student is going to play as a JTP, please enter “JTP” in the USCF ID part of the form.

If you are just joining the USCF for the first time, and you have attached the fees, or paid on the USCF site, please make a note of this on the tournament application form.

Entry Fee

The tournament entry fee is $8 if received before October 22nd, and increases to $12 if paid by November 8th by 8:00 pm (you may hand deliver it to the mailing address on the form). The only chance to register (and pay) after November 8th is to hand carry it to Aspen Elementary on the evening of November 10th, (to the gym, where we are setting up) from 5pm-7pm. No tournament-day registrations will be accepted.
